the wine estate

In this family-owned winery, spanning 4 hectares of vineyards, fresh, fruit-driven white wines that bring pleasure are crafted.

The 4th generation

Initiated by the purchase by great-grandfather Leopold in 1910, it was later adopted by grandfather Richard, then handed down to the father, Richard, and has been under Martin's stewardship since 2018. It's a family heritage that Martin pursues autonomously, investing his entire energy and passion.

Today, Martin continues the family tradition and drafts a new chapter. He appreciates the opportunity granted by the diligent efforts of his predecessors, enabling him to work with vineyards that boast of an age much greater than his own.

From Father to Son

As we all understand, discovering one's calling can be one of life's most challenging journeys. Identifying what truly brings joy and how one wishes to spend most of their daily life is not always a straightforward process. For Martin, though his destiny was intertwined with his birthright, however, the journey to realise it was not direct.

To embrace winemaking passionately, Martin needed to embark on this journey driven by his own interest.

Working amidst nature in New Zealand drew him closer to winemaking. Suddenly, all the puzzle pieces fell into place. Today, Martin leads the family winery with autonomy, total commitment, and a hands-on approach.

From Nature to Wine

For Martin, nature is his foundation. The winery, vineyards, and the estate are his home. The flora and fauna of Wachau present a sanctuary of tranquillity and security. He allows nature to guide him; it doesn't ask questions but, indeed, does challenge him. Understanding it is a daily task, and this continuous learning makes viticulture so intriguing.

Why nature, you might ask?

It sets the course and thereby provides the basis for making decisions.

Old Meets New

Renovations and expansions were undertaken in the wine cellar in 2019. The enhancements, which include a new grape reception area and the ability to work with gravity, empower the creation of wines of unparalleled quality.

The historic vaulted cellar was restored during the renovation, which now serves its traditional role in wine production and storage.
